Carleton College invites applications for a tenure‑track position in experimental physics (Assistant Professor of Physics) that would normally begin September 1, 2027. Applications received by September 15, 2026 will receive priority consideration.
Qualifications- Ph.D. in Physics or a related field (or near completion of a Ph.D.)
- Robust experimental physics research background that expands the department's specialties
- Strong interest in teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting
- Teach the equivalent of five courses per year (lab sections count as half a course each)
- Advise students on senior projects and involve them in research
- Participate in departmental initiatives, events, and college committees (after the first year)
- Engage in community outreach and collaborate on teaching or research projects with other departments or campus centers (optional)
- Help cultivate a welcoming community where everyone feels a sense of belonging
- The expected starting salary range is $87,480 – $93,290, adjusted for experience and other factors per law.
