Assistant Professor Of Physics

Carleton College invites applications for a tenure‑track position in experimental physics (Assistant Professor of Physics) that would normally begin September 1, 2027. Applications received by September 15, 2026 will receive priority consideration.

• Ph.D. in Physics or a related field (or near completion of a Ph.D.)
• Robust experimental physics research background that expands the department's specialties
• Strong interest in teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting

• Teach the equivalent of five courses per year (lab sections count as half a course each)
• Advise students on senior projects and involve them in research
• Participate in departmental initiatives, events, and college committees (after the first year)
• Engage in community outreach and collaborate on teaching or research projects with other departments or campus centers (optional)

• The expected starting salary range is $87,480 – $93,290, adjusted for experience and other factors per law.
