Position: Counselling Role at Az-Zahraa Islamic Academy
Become a pivotal presence for students at Az-Zahraa Islamic Academy in Richmond, BC, as an Elementary School Counselor. Focus on emotional support and educational growth for students from Kindergarten to Grade 7.

In this full-time position, you will engage with K-7 students to address their numerous personal and academic needs. Collaborate closely with educational staff and the Principal to develop comprehensive IEPs and create a positive school environment.

Your role will be essential in promoting healthy development and emotional resilience within the school community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual counseling sessions targeting student development

• Develop school-based counseling support alongside staff

• Partner with staff for comprehensive anti-bullying strategies

• Identify student needs and arrange appropriate referrals

• Organize wellness programs and regular student care meetings

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in counselling or social sciences

• Familiarity with Islamic values and community

• Proven experience in educational settings

• Strong ability to engage and build trust with students

• Resilient and organized with excellent problem-solving skills
