IB​/AP Academic Teacher

Lux is looking for exceptional IB and AP teachers/tutors to provide high-quality academic instruction to ambitious secondary-school students.

Teachers will work closely with Lux's academic and consulting teams to ensure academic support is aligned with each student's broader educational goals.

Deliver engaging one-on-one and small-group lessons.

• Understand each student's academic level, goals, strengths, and gaps.
• Develop individualized lesson plans aligned with IB/AP curriculum requirements.
• Help students strengthen subject knowledge, problem-solving, exam strategy, and academic confidence.
• Prepare students for coursework, internal assessments, exams, and relevant academic milestones.
• Assign appropriate homework and practice.
• Monitor progress against clear academic goals.
• Complete a brief teacher report following each lesson.
• Flag academic concerns or students at risk to the Director of Academics.
• Collaborate with the Director of Academics when intervention or curriculum changes are needed.
• Maintain accurate records in Lux's internal system.
• Communicate professionally with the Lux team regarding student progress.

• Strong expertise in the relevant IB/AP subject.
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree is an asset.
• Prior teaching or tutoring experience strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with current IB or AP curriculum and assessment formats.
• Strong academic track record.
• Ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Patient, supportive, and highly student-focused.
• Reliable and responsive with excellent professional communication.
• Proven ability to help students achieve measurable academic improvement is preferred.

• Current/former school teacher.
• IB/AP examiner or curriculum experience.
• Top university academic background.
• Experience supporting competitive university applicants.
• Ability to teach more than one subject or curriculum.

• Students demonstrate measurable academic progress.
• Lesson reports are submitted consistently.
• Curriculum progress is clear and documented.
• Academic risks are identified early.
• Students and parents have confidence in the quality of Lux's academic support.
