Match Box Consulting Group is seeking a Distribution Designer to join a growing, Richmond-based electrical utility engineering firm serving major BC Hydro projects. This role blends overhead and underground distribution design, giving you hands-on ownership of utility files while developing toward P.Eng. designation.

Responsibilities
- Lead design for overhead and underground distribution infrastructure, including pole renewals, line extensions, and customer connections.
- Run SPIDAcalc modeling and structural analysis for pole loading, guying, and framing.
- Support underground distribution design, including customer vaults and related utility infrastructure.
- Prepare full design packages (tender, IFC, as-built), layouts, calculations, and markups for drafting teams.
- Coordinate permits and approvals with municipalities, MoTI, BC Hydro, rail, and pipeline stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions, support construction, and resolve field inquiries.
- Collaborate with PMs, Engineers of Record, and multidisciplinary teams to meet project schedules and budgets.
- Assist with documentation including technical reports, specifications, tender documents, and project calculations.
- Post-secondary diploma or engineering degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of utility distribution design experience with strong overhead exposure.
- Familiarity with BC Hydro standards and distribution processes.
- Proficiency in utility design calculations and drafting tools.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Registered EIT or P.Eng. with EGBC.
- Experience with SPIDAcalc and/or PLS-CADD.
- Experience designing distribution voltage customer vaults.
- Ability to independently manage design files from concept through construction.
