Role Overview

Electromechanical Engineer designs, develops, and maintains systems that integrate mechanical and electrical components, playing a crucial role in design for safety, regulator, and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: design and develop electromechanical systems, including VFDs, MCCs, and Switchgears, ensuring they meet the required specifications and standards.
  • Testing: conduct detailed analysis and testing of the designs to ensure the systems are reliable and functional.
  • Integration: collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate systems and ensure they work together seamlessly.
  • Troubleshooting: troubleshooting issues that arise during the development and implementation phases of projects.
  • Documentation: create and maintain technical documentation, including schematics and operational manuals.
  • Compliance: ensure systems comply with safety and regulatory standards including creating and maintaining design calculations and risk assessments.
  • Improvement: work on improving the efficiency and reliability of existing systems.
  • Project Management: manage project timelines and milestones effectively.
  • Collaboration:

    liaise with customers, suppliers and vendors for component selection and procurement.
  • Support: provide technical support and guidance to other engineering teams.
  • Research: conduct research to adopt the latest technologies and improve system performance.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Electromechanical, System, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered with EGBC as an E.I.T or P.Eng.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in VFD, MCC, and Switchgear panel design role.
  • Intermediate to advanced AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN user.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing industry is an asset. In depth understanding of design standardization, configurable for custom products.
  • Significant experience in DFM, DFX, including assembly sequences, work instructions, multi‑level BOM.
  • Lean and Six‑Sigma experience is a strong asset.
  • Experience using Net Suite would also be an asset.
