Our Marine organization is a trusted provider of innovative solutions for the worldwide boating and boat building industry, and we recently expanded our scope to lead the boating industry into an electrified future. Dometic has won numerous NMMA Innovation Awards over the years, and we are always striving for new ways to make boating easier, safer, and more enjoyable.

We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Co‑op Manufacturing/Automation Engineer . This position reports to Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will work in Vancouver, B.C.

Please note that this position is open to current students enrolled in a Canadian accredited university and co‑op program.

Dometic Marine’s headquarters are in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. The facility develops and manufactures hydraulic, electronic, and combustion‑based products.

As Co‑op Manufacturing/Automation Engineer on the Vancouver team, you will be involved in a wide variety of tasks supporting administrative, engineering, and technical staff throughout the facility.

General Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical design including solid modeling, prototype assembly and testing, tolerance analysis, and engineering analysis of manufacturing equipment.
  • Implement industrial control systems on mechanical equipment and verify and validate machine functions.
  • Develop documentation for equipment including standard operating procedures, maintenance and calibration instructions, preventative maintenance schedules, and spare parts catalogues.
  • Research and design concept solutions.
  • Analyze functional performance for components, products and processes and help identify improvements.
  • Integrate factory equipment with SCADA systems and create data visualization screens and HMIs.

  • Lots of hands‑on opportunities: build prototypes or equipment; test products and components; analyze product performance; disassemble, inspect, and analyze tested components; design and optimize assembly processes and equipment; analyze machining data and develop mechanical and software tools to optimize production.
  • Wide variety of tasks – usually 2–3 projects on the go at a time.
  • Great supervision and mentorship but also get to work independently.
  • Supportive engineering and technical staff throughout the facility.
  • Great camaraderie among the co‑op students’ cohorts, as well as, within the engineers.
  • Often opportunities to do some of the following: design components or equipment with CREO; work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems; use high precision measurement equipment; program PLCs; analyze product performance using Labview/NI‑DAQ control systems or our data acquisition equipment.
  • Experience in mechanical/electrical/software blend for both product design, and manufacturing & machining equipment designing along with its processes.
  • Exposure to both worlds of product development and manufacturing processes since we do it all in one facility!
