Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Project TechnologistWe are seeking an IEQ Project Technologist to join our multidisciplinary team in Richmond, BC. This role will involve field work, technical problem solving, client communication, and project coordination across a variety of sectors including mold and water damage, indoor air quality (IAQ), radon, fire and smoke damage, infection control, and hazardous materials.
Role OverviewWorking closely with experienced Project Managers and senior technical staff, you will investigate environmental concerns, collect and interpret data, and provide practical recommendations that help clients protect occupants, restore buildings, and manage risk. You will spend time at client sites performing investigations, inspections, and environmental sampling, and then analyze findings in an office or home setting to produce clear technical reports and recommendations.
Responsibilities- Complete assessments for mold, indoor air quality (IAQ), designated substances, and other hazardous materials.
- Conduct interviews with clients regarding building history and site‑specific concerns.
- Perform inspections and evaluate building systems.
- Assess building damages related to floods, water losses, smoke, and fire.
- Assist clients after flood and loss emergencies to get buildings dried, cleaned, remediated, and operational.
- Collect a variety of air and bulk (mould, asbestos, lead, dust, bacteria, etc.) samples.
- Interpret laboratory results.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and provide recommendations to address concerns.
- Inspect abatement and restoration contractors performing remediation work to document that the work is properly completed.
- Post‑secondary education in construction, engineering, architecture, science, or environment is an asset; we also welcome candidates from diverse educational and professional backgrounds.
- Experience in indoor environmental quality, restoration, construction, facilities, environmental services, or consulting is an asset but not required. We value a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and interest in a long‑term consulting career.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with building construction or maintenance is an asset.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, strong organization, and high attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and personal vehicle required, with availability to travel to client sites and work occasional evenings and weekends.
Pay ranges are listed as required by law. Final compensation reflects each candidate’s education, experience, qualifications, and work location.
