Overview
This is a temporary 6‑month position (with possible extension) at Photon Control Inc., a subsidiary of MKS Instruments, Inc. The Test Technician will manage the test laboratory, ensuring equipment maintenance, calibration, and readiness. The role reports to the Test Engineering Supervisor.
Responsibilities- Perform functional testing to ensure products meet specification standards.
- Assist Test Engineers in conducting tests according to verification and validation plans.
- Participate in failure analysis investigations and root‑cause analysis, identifying failure modes and supporting corrective actions.
- Contribute to the development and optimization of testing protocols to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Compile and analyze test data, providing actionable insights to the test engineering team.
- Perform laboratory 5S activities and maintain 5S standards.
- Post‑secondary degree in electrical, mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline (preferred).
- Minimum 2+ years in a test technician role with significant test lab experience (preferred).
- High comfort level operating and maintaining test equipment and tools.
- Strong attention to detail, able to follow procedures accurately and identify issues.
- Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexible and able to work in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities.
- Strong time‑management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience setting up and using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other test equipment.
- Skill in troubleshooting test setups, equipment failures, and root‑cause analysis.
- Ability to communicate technical issues and test results clearly to team members.
- Background in data analysis using Microsoft Excel or JMP.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings for test setup.
- Understanding of safety protocols and best practices in a lab or manufacturing environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Work involves sitting, standing, and typing for extended periods. Safety is required to mitigate hazards such as heat, cold, fumes, strong magnets, confined spaces, lasers, microwaves, and vacuum/pressure systems. Work is fast‑paced with changing priorities.

Salary Pay Range: $50,000 to $60,000 per year.
