Principal Game Designer
Epic Games is looking for a Principal Game Designer to tackle high-level engagement challenges across the Fortnite ecosystem. You will innovate existing systems like Quests and Passes, create new structures, and drive player acquisition and retention over the growing platform.
Responsibilities- Craft meaningful goals for players that build their experience and mastery of game mechanics while immersing them in the world of Fortnite.
- Spearhead innovation in engagement design, including systems, progression and rewards, fulfilling key engagement metrics and supporting the broader systematic framework.
- Communicate and represent a vision for the player experience to multiple teams across the company, including supporting teams of all crafts to optimize engagement.
- Collaborate with product management and marketing teams to ensure player satisfaction and overall game health while driving growth across the ecosystem and supporting key activations.
- Drive collaborative and iterative live design, prototype quickly, make changes live soon after, learn from them, and iterate.
- 10+ years of experience shipping game design for multiple titles, particularly in live-service multiplayer environments focusing on engagement content or goal-based progression systems.
- Demonstrated talent for empathizing with players and deep understanding of player motivations, play styles, and goal-setting effects.
- Strong interest in Battle Royale and the Fortnite ecosystem, with understanding of what makes them work.
- Able to react quickly to changing project needs and drive decisions, owning that vision.

Pay Transparency:
Expected base pay range for this position: $179,686—$263,539 CAD (British Columbia).
