Platform Properties Ltd. is seeking a CPA-designated Controller to join our real estate team. This role is in-office and ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys a broad scope of day-to-day responsibility and is looking to grow over time through direct mentorship and genuine exposure to how a real estate investment and development business operates. Reporting to the VP Finance, the Controller will work closely with senior leadership and the company owner in an open, collaborative environment where questions are welcomed and development is actively supported.
As the business grows and opportunities arise, the Controller will gain increasing exposure to acquisitions, financing, and strategic decision‑making — building toward broader financial leadership over time.

Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop a small accounting team
- Manage quarterly and annual financial reporting for multiple entities
- Oversee period‑end close, reconciliations, and general ledger integrity
- Prepare investor and lender reporting in collaboration with senior leadership
- Coordinate investor capital requests and distributions in accordance with agreements
- Support financing applications and ongoing lender requirements
- Assist with budgeting, financial analysis, due diligence, and pro forma modeling
- Support financial integration of property acquisitions and new developments
- Improve financial systems, processes, and reporting efficiency
- CPA designation and bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 4‑6+ years (post‑qualification) of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally combining public practice and industry exposure
- Direct experience in real estate development, asset management, or a related industry and multi‑entity reporting strongly preferred
- Strong experience with full‑cycle accounting and financial statement preparation
- Solid understanding of financial processes, internal controls, and statutory compliance
- Experience leading or supervising a small team
- Exposure to system implementations or upgrades is an asset
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical capability ‑ able to navigate multi‑entity complexity and translate financial data into clear business implications.
- Demonstrates ownership ‑ takes responsibility for deadlines, accuracy and planning across finance function; identifies issues and brings forward proposed solutions rather than waiting to be directed.
- Systems‑oriented ‑ enjoys strengthening financial infrastructure and improving visibility for decision‑making and create scalable processes that support business growth.
- Exercises independent judgment ‑ able to engage directly with senior leadership, ask thoughtful questions, and contribute constructively to business decisions.
- Comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment with the ability to guide, coach and support team members while remaining hands‑on and accountable for outcomes.
- Composed under pressure ‑ able to manage deadlines and maintain perspective while handling detailed financial work.
- Strong communicator ‑ able to present financial information clearly to executives, investors, lenders, and team members.
- Curious and commercially minded ‑ interested in the 'why' behind the numbers and how financial signals connect to broader business decisions.
- Comfortable managing a broad scope of responsibilities across reporting, investor communication, team oversight, and strategic support.
