Geosciences Full Time Richmond, BC Hybrid $100,000 - $130,000 CAD per year
Ideon Technologies, founded and based in Richmond, BC, uses energy from cosmic-ray muons to image deep beneath the Earth’s surface. Ideon is a world pioneer in muon tomography and has developed the REVEAL™ Subsurface Intelligence Platform, comprising an advanced suite of proprietary data-generation hardware, software, AI-powered services, and multi-physics fusion that provide x-ray-like visibility deep underground and unlock the exponential power of integrated spatial data.
By transforming muon data into reliable 3D density maps, Ideon helps geologists identify, map, characterize, and monitor mineral deposits. This reduces risk and cost of traditional methods, while saving time, optimizing return, and minimizing environmental impact across the mining value chain. This supports the transition to low-impact mining and helps recover the critical minerals required to power the global shift to clean energy.
We are a dynamic tech scale-up of 70 employees (and growing). We are entrepreneurial, focused on delivering great customer outcomes, and committed to seeking the best brains and exceptional humans from diverse backgrounds.
The RoleWe are seeking a Geoscientific Analyst who combines geoscience expertise with advanced data science and Python development to scale and optimize Ideon’s geoscience data workflows. You’ll work at the intersection of geoscience, data engineering, and scientific computing, partnering with teams across geoscience, research and development, and software on muon tomography, inversion, and end-to-end workflows.
You understand both geoscience and data science, write high-quality Python, and are comfortable with complex geoscience models and data. You enjoy improving scientific workflows through automation, use AI tools and modern development approaches, and collaborate across science and software teams.
Reporting to the Manager, Geosciences, you’ll collaborate with geoscientists, applied scientists, physicists, software developers, and data scientists to improve how geophysical and geological data are processed, managed, and analyzed across Ideon’s subsurface imaging workflows.
You’ll optimize data processing pipelines, improve geoscience modeling notebooks, and integrate AI-assisted workflows into Ideon’s scientific processes. You’ll ensure geoscience data and inversion workflows are scalable, reproducible, efficient, and well-structured for customer project delivery and internal research.
You will drive Ideon’s objectives forward by focusing on the following activities:
