We currently have an opening for a permanent, full-time
Maintenance Manager to join our team, based out of our location in Richmond, BC. This role reports directly to the Senior Manager, Process Improvement and Operations.
Please note, our location is not situated near public transit, applicants must have their own vehicle.
PositionPosition Overview
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and overall reliability of all machinery and equipment across plant operations. This role ensures that preventive and corrective maintenance programs are effectively implemented to maximize equipment uptime, operational efficiency, and workplace safety.
Additionally, the Maintenance Manager leads and develops the maintenance team, promotes a culture of safety and failure elimination, and ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This position collaborates closely with Operations, Production, and Purchasing teams to proactively identify opportunities for process improvements, equipment upgrades, and long-term asset reliability.
Through strong technical leadership and operational oversight, the Maintenance Manager contributes directly to plant performance, cost efficiency, and overall business success.
Responsibilities- Plan, implement and manage Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Program.
- Ensure safe, timely, and comprehensive completion of all corrective and emergency maintenance and repair work to facilities and equipment.
- Coordinate maintenance personnel and assist with training of production personnel as it pertains to TPM and the overall maintenance of their equipment.
- Work in conjunction with other stakeholders regarding repair schedules and production delays.
- Maintain records of repairs and TPM audits in the CMMS and paper/electronic documents.
- Maintain and monitor the CMMS and inventory of supplies, materials and spare parts; keeps expenditures within the annual Maintenance budget.
- Communicate to Operations and plant leadership major issues that have no immediate solution; emergency breakdown requiring more than four hours to repair; two or more machines that will be down for four or more hours; and situations where overtime is necessary to maintain the completion date of scheduled work.
- Conduct regular visual inspections of building, grounds, facilities, equipment, and projects in process or completed and initiate corrective actions where necessary.
- Attempt to increase the efficiency of the buildings by reducing energy usage and operating costs.
- Analyze downtime – historical data and identify opportunities for improvement in eliminating recurring failures and performance issues.
- Support and implement Environmental Management Standards (EMS) operating procedures and plans.
- Facilitate fire insurance company inspections and discuss approved recommendations with Safety Specialist. Maintenance Manager or a designate of his/her choice accountable for ensuring that plans are developed to ensure that all recommendations are completed on schedule.
- Comply and conduct internal audits to ensure Work Safe Regulations and requirements are followed.
- Ensure all maintenance duties are performed in a safe efficient, and effective manner.
- Supervise, hire, and coach the maintenance staff.
- Manage behavior and performance matters regarding Maintenance hourly and salaried resources.
- Approve any overtime required for maintenance personnel and ensure that labor costs are controlled within the annual Maintenance budget.
- Assist with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.
- Attend ongoing in-house safety team meetings.
- Attend supervisor/production meetings as necessary to maintain relationships and provide feedback on failure/repair trend analysis.
- Comply with all company rules and regulations as outlined in the “Employee Handbook.”
- Associates degree from two-year college or certificate/diploma from trade school in a related field.
- 5 years of experience in a maintenance department in a manufacturing facility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- In-depth knowledge of the corrugated/litho plant is an asset.
