Job Description
The Maintenance Person will be responsible for performing general building and property maintenance. Duties include routine maintenance of pools, hot tubs, and the boiler room. Services involve heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units, drywall repairs and painting, caulking, and application of silicone when needed. Replacement of light bulbs and fixtures as required. The candidate will respond to guests' maintenance requests to improve their stay.
Competency with hand and power tools and adherence to WHMIS Health and Safety Standards are required, with personal protective equipment used in compliance with Work Safe regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum two years of maintenance experience.
- At least one year of experience in the operation and maintenance of buildings.
- Ability to perform overtime as required.
- Drywall repairs and caulking.
- General plumbing repairs.
- Knowledge of heating units and air conditioners (PTAC units).
- Seasonal outdoor landscaping.
- Regular property inspections of the hotel, including common areas, building exterior, and landscape.
- Maintenance of vandalism cleanup and repair within skill level.
- Maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems, boilers, pumps, fan units, control panels, thermostats, and cooling towers.
- Maintenance of environmental safeguards and alarm systems.
- Maintenance of fire alarms and extinguishers.
- Outdoor grounds maintenance: removal of snow, ice, debris; weed spray and removal; gutter sweeping and cleaning; watering and sprinkler system maintenance.
- Detection of faulty operations or defective materials and reporting to the supervisor.
- Preparation, painting, and decoration of interior and exterior surfaces as required.
- Ability to perform small repairs.
- Carpentry skills and refinishing wood preferred.
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels.
- Familiarity with cleaning products.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to interact with management, co‑workers, and the public.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 25 pounds.
- Preparation to take a Pool Operator course provided by AHS.
