Nature & Scope
This role provides operational leadership for licensed Early Years and School Age programs across YMCA BC, ensuring excellence, consistency, and compliance in program delivery through a unified provincial framework. It oversees operations in both union and non-union environments, aligning with HR policies, collective agreements, and YMCA BC’s mission and strategic objectives.
The position drives integration of regional operations, champions high-quality inclusive programming, and ensures curriculum fidelity, licensing compliance, and continuous improvement. It fosters a collaborative leadership culture, manages workforce optimization, and exercises sound financial judgment while supporting growth and new site development. The role requires data-driven decision-making, proactive problem-solving, and navigation of complex regulatory and labour environments to deliver equitable, responsive, and fiscally responsible child care services province-wide.
Major Responsibilities- in this position, you will:
Foster a collaborative leadership culture through coaching, recognition, and succession planning.Provide strategic and operational leadership licensed Early Years and School age programs across YMCA BC, spanning the Lower Mainland, Northern BC and Interior BC. Ensuring excellence and consistency in program delivery, licensing compliance, workforce engagement, and family experience through a unified provincial approach.Oversee operations in both union and non-union environments, ensuring alignment with HR policies, collective agreements, and organizational values.Lead the integration of regional operations into a unified provincial framework, standardizing service delivery and program evaluation.Champion high-quality, inclusive programming and guide the implementation of the Inclusion & Access Strategy.Ensure curriculum fidelity, licensing compliance, and continuous quality improvement across all sites.Develop and execute operational plans aligned with YMCA BC’s strategic priorities and fiscal targets.Exercise sound financial judgment, manage budgets, and support strategic growth including new site development.Interpret and respond to evolving provincial regulations and curriculum frameworks, ensuring compliance and scalability.Build and maintain partnerships with community and government stakeholders to enhance YMCA BC’s reputation and expand child care services.Use data-driven analysis to identify systemic challenges and implement innovative solutions for operational efficiency.Respond to complex issues in real time, balancing immediate problem-solving with long-term strategic planning.Analyze workforce capacity and structure, providing recommendations for optimization and staffing models.Qualification-you bring:
A post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline is required; a graduate degree (e.g., MA, MEd, MBA) is a strong asset.Minimum of 10 years of management experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.Proven experience designing and implementing workforce development strategies, professional learning frameworks, and inclusive practices across large, multi-site organizations.Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships with post-secondary institutions, government agencies, and sector networks to support workforce and practicum initiatives.In-depth knowledge of child care licensing…
