Clinical Resource Nurse; RN - Palliative Care
Position Overview
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is proud to be part of the provincial implementation of minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs). mNPRs set the minimum number of nurses providing care to patients on a given unit and are developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU) and health organizations. Within the context of a client- and family-centred care model, and in accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice and Code of Ethics, this Clinical Resource Nurse – Palliative Care role utilizes specialized knowledge and skills to assist staff in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating care delivery and program services for palliative care clients and families.
The role supports the philosophy, vision and mission of the Palliative Care Program and works in an efficient, integrated model. Responsibilities include staff development and support, coaching, mentoring and leadership across the health units related to palliative care, and providing clinical education services such as orientation, learning assessments and development of clinical education programs.
CAD $49.20 per hour – CAD $63.47 per hour.
Education & Experience- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Five (5) years recent and successful experience in Palliative Care Nursing and Home Care Nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in acute and community care.
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification in Palliative Care.
- Valid driver’s license; local travel requires the use of a personal vehicle.

- Ability to adapt to new or unexpected events.
- Ability to navigate conflict situations.
- Ability to collaborate as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated communication skills with home care nurses, co‑workers, physicians and external agencies.
- Physical ability to perform job duties.
- Proficiency with medical equipment and supplies for the clinical area.
- Basic computer literacy to use a computerized patient care information system.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
The hours of work, including days off and work area, may be subject to change in line with operational requirements, the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
All health care workers in publicly-funded facilities are required to report vaccination and infection history. Records will be collected during onboarding to ensure compliance with Ministry of Health policy and to manage exposure to communicable diseases.
