Description:Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital is a high-traffic acute care facility in York Region offering emergency, medical, surgical, mental health, and rehabilitation services. Security operates in a
fast-paced environment, focusing on patrols, access control, and emergency response to support patient and staff safety.
Position: Security Guard
Site: Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital
Hours: Continental Rotating / hrs)
Pay rate: $19.10/hr
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement after 88 hours
Key responsibilities:
Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standardsAdditional duties as assignedPrerequisites:
Valid Security License for the province of OntarioValid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved providerImmunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella , Covid Vaccine two doses, and two step TB skin testEnglish (oral and written) fluency is a mustOne year experience in security, or law enforcement is an assetAble to be clean-shave for N95 mask fit testingLegally authorized to work in CanadaDegree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services will be an assetMust be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the positionPlease be aware:
The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
