Role OverviewAs a Pharmacy Data Technician, you will specialize in inputting prescriptions into Medi System Pharmacy’s pharmacy computer system. You will process patient/resident prescriptions, changes, and refills, and update electronic health records. Strong communication skills are required for discussing information with nursing staff and prescribers.
Shift RequirementsThis role requires flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including occasional weekend shifts and statutory holidays.
What You’ll Do- Retrieve faxed or electronic physician orders, prescriptions or requests for prescription refills.
- Enter prescriptions, refills and prescription changes into the patient’s record and other medication administration platforms.
- Adjudicate prescriptions to Pharmacare and other third‑party providers.
- Create new patient profiles and maintain existing patient records.
- Communicate with nursing staff and prescribers to clarify orders when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with long‑term care pharmacy regulations and pharmacy workflow.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as required.
- Commit to promoting a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging.
- Excellent organization and time‑management skills with the ability to multitask.
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
- Self‑motivated with a passion for providing high‑quality client services and building relationships.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate through a variety of computer systems quickly with a minimum typing speed of 70 words per minute.
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills and attention to detail for the entry of prescriptions.
- Preferred:
Undergraduate degree focused in science or related field. - Preferred:
Pharmacy‑related diploma or certificate. - Preferred:
Previous experience using Kroll. - Preferred:
Previous experience or knowledge with weekly dispensing in multi‑dose or compliance packaging. - Preferred:
Knowledge of Pharmacare billing processes and medication coverage.
