About

the Role

As a Commercial HVAC and Refrigeration Journeyman, you will play a critical role in delivering expert service, maintenance, and installation solutions for commercial customers throughout the Lower Mainland. Based out of Richmond head office, this position requires daily travel to customer sites and a strong commitment to technical excellence, safety, and customer service. You will work independently and collaboratively with other journeypersons and apprentices while representing our company with professionalism and pride.

Key

Responsibilities

Service, Maintenance & Installation

  • Handle service calls for commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems

  • Repair and replace components for air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment

  • Assemble and install motors, controls, compressors, valves, pumps, thermostats, piping, and safety devices

  • Lay out and install heating and cooling system components and connect to fuel supply, ventilation, and electrical systems

  • Test installed systems, adjust controls, and perform scheduled maintenance services

Technical & Field Execution

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation

  • Troubleshoot mechanical systems and provide effective, code-compliant solutions

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-inventoried company vehicle

  • Properly stage jobs and adhere to quality and safety checklists

  • Work independently or collaboratively with other journeypersons and apprentices

Customer Service & Professional Representation

  • Communicate technical solutions clearly in a non-technical manner

  • Educate customers on services, system options, and potential upgrades

  • Demonstrate strong customer service, professionalism, and communication on every site visit

  • Participate actively in ongoing training and professional development initiatives

Requirements
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in commercial HVAC and refrigeration service, installation, and maintenance

  • Strong knowledge of commercial refrigeration, heating, and air conditioning systems and applicable codes

  • HVAC/R Red Seal certification required

  • Gas A or Gas B ticket required

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and lead installation work

  • Complete knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials required for commercial mechanical service

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Clean Class 5 drivers license required

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background screening

  • Completion of secondary school and relevant trade or vocational training preferred
