Help create a safe environment at The Salvation Army's Richmond House as a Shelter Worker. You'll monitor guest activities, provide support, and maintain shelter standards.
As a Shelter Worker, you will engage with guests and ensure compliance with policies for the Richmond House Emergency Shelter. Key responsibilities include performing security checks, recording daily activities, and assisting with meal preparations. This role also involves collaborating with Case Workers to support guests and their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor guest activities and provide safe medication storage
• Maintain shelter cleanliness and perform security inspections
• Assist guests by preparing and serving meals
• Engage in guest activities such as crafts and sports
• Collaborate with external agencies and attend meetings
Requirements:
• Post-secondary education in Social Services or related field
• Minimum two years' experience working with the homeless
• Training in crisis intervention and mediation skills
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
