Lead Backend Engineer - Founding Team

Orgn is building trusted infrastructure for high-value physical collectibles — the systems that let people buy, sell, authenticate, and track items worth thousands of dollars with confidence. We're an early-stage, funded team in Richmond, BC, and you'd be one of the first engineers shaping the platform from the ground up.

Role Description
You’ll own and lead the backend systems that power our platform end to end — including marketplace transaction flows, item provenance and authentication records, payments integrations, and the AWS infrastructure behind it all.
This is a founding technical leadership role. You’ll be expected to ship production services with clear ownership, make thoughtful architecture decisions, collaborate across product, design, operations, and business work streams, and help grow the engineering team through direct project leadership and mentorship.
Qualifications
5+ years of backend engineering experience, with proven ownership of production services from design to launch and ongoing operation
Strong coding ability and engineering judgment, with deep experience in at least one of Node.js/Type Script, Python, Go, or Java
Experience leading technical projects directly, including setting direction, driving execution, and mentoring other engineers
Ability to collaborate effectively across work streams, including product, design, operations, and business stakeholders
Strong data modelling skills, with SQL required and No

SQL experience considered a plus
Hands-on AWS experience, including designing, deploying, and operating cloud infrastructure
Comfortable owning Dev Ops for a small team, including Docker, CI/CD, and ideally Terraform or Pulumi
Nice to have:  marketplace, payments, or fintech experience; observability tooling such as monitoring or tracing; personal interest in collectibles
Compensation and Benefits
$100,000–$150,000 CAD base
Stock options: lead-level founding equity; this is where the upside of joining early lives
