Warehouse Supervisor (12 Month Contract)
About This Opportunity
The Warehouse Supervisor is a full-time role based at the Richmond Production Facility. This position is responsible for leading the Warehouse team, IPT (interplant transfer tractor drivers), and a team of forklift operators, while working closely with Production and Distribution teams in a unionized environment. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Supervisor ensures that warehouse operations, tractor driver activities, and forklift support effectively meet the plant’s production requirements.
Key responsibilities include overseeing staffing, training, and performance management, while promoting a strong safety culture through regular crew talks and ensuring compliance with company policies. The role is also accountable for monitoring key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement, maximizing asset utilization, and ensuring clear shift-to-shift communication. The Supervisor operates within the approved OPEX budget and must be flexible to work afternoon and night shifts, as well as be on call when required.
- Staff, train, supervise, develop, and evaluate team members.
- Provide a safe work environment by having regular Safety crew talks promoting safety policies and guidelines.
- Manage daily maintenance activities of the team in a unionized environment.
- Complete work orders, work schedules, timesheet approvals, maintain employee files, ensuring daily tasks and procedures are followed safely and correctly.
- Review KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), decide and implement corrective measures for the team.
- Maximize fixed asset utilization rates.
- Ensure proper transfer of information between the shifts and departments.
- Comply with all Company/Plant policies and regulatory guidelines including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), American Institute of Banking (AIB), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Quality and Safety Standards.
- Manage labor and operations within operating expenses (OPEX) budget.
- Be able to work any shift and be on call as required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. Experience and/or education in a related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of supervisory experience in a unionized storage or distribution environment.
- Be a leader, a good communicator, and a convener as needed.
- Possess excellent organization and time‑management skills.
- Ability to make sound recommendations based on systematic evaluations.
- Provide guidance, motivation, and training for development of the team.
