Role OverviewThe Assurance Manager is responsible for leading client engagements from planning through completion, ensuring the delivery of high-quality audit and accounting services. This role is responsible for executing complex accounting files under Canadian standards (IFRS, ASPE, NPO), handling tax compliance, and delivering financial statements in Case Ware. You may also be required to assist with compilations and tax filings as part of larger groups you are responsible for.
This role involves managing multiple assignments, providing technical guidance, and supporting firm-wide quality assurance initiatives while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Lead and manage audit review engagements by coordinating planning, execution, communication, and completion across multiple related entities while ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to professional standards.
- Review compilation engagements and related tax filings, particularly those that form part of larger corporate group engagements.
- Completing client engagements while ensuring compliance with professional standards, firm policies, and applicable legislation.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout engagements, including communicating documentation requirements, engagement timelines, tax balances owing, engagement status, and billing matters.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships by providing proactive, responsive, and high-quality client service.
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are achieved.
- Respond promptly to client inquiries and information requests from the Canada Revenue Agency and other tax authorities.
- Supervise engagement fieldwork by providing technical guidance, reviewing work performed and resolving complex issues.
- Train, mentor, and develop Associates, Senior Associates, and Co-op students by providing technical instruction, coaching and constructive feedback.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to support employee development.
- Meet individual billable hour targets while contributing to the overall profitability, efficiency, and success of the firm.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing.
- Minimum of 4–5 years of progressive public accounting experience, including experience supervising staff and managing client engagements.
