Senior School English – Full‑Time, Temporary Contract
Commencing February 2026 - Ending June 2027
An exciting opportunity exists at The Country Day School (CDS) for an experienced teacher to join our English department. Passionate about teaching intermediate and senior level English, the successful candidate will assume a full complement of courses in the Senior School. Experience teaching AP English and/or Film Studies will be considered an asset. Certification to teach in Ontario and an English specialist qualification are preferred.
Key Responsibilities- Teach intermediate and senior level English courses.
- Implement AP English and/or Film Studies curricula.
- Monitor student learning and use assessment to improve teaching and learning.
- Create an optimal classroom environment.
- Focus on mastery learning and deep understanding.
- Develop self‑regulation, self‑efficacy and self‑esteem in students.
- Offer appropriately challenging tasks and learning goals.
- Excel at the relational aspects of teaching.
- Experience as a senior school English teacher.
- Certification to teach in Ontario.
- English specialist qualification (preferred).
- Experience in AP English and/or Film Studies.
- Strong understanding of teaching/learning and the subject area.
- Ability to meet the needs of all learners.
