Description

Overview and Purpose of the Role

Reporting directly to the Manager Surgical Day Care and Procedures. This role is responsible for pre, intra and post care of surgical and procedural patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to direct and deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in Surgical Day Care and Procedures in a safe and proficient manner according to individual patient needs.

The successful incumbent provides clinical support intraoperative throughout minor surgical procedures (Colonoscopy, gastroscopy, urological procedures) assesses and monitors the patient´s condition throughout the pre-operative post-operative period and assures patient safety.

The candidate will also provide clear clear education and communication, ensuring care meets individual needs while supporting our mission to improve access, reduce pain, and enhance quality of life throughout the community.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Care of patients pre-op/ procedure, intra procedure and post‑operatively/ post-procedure.
  • Care planning and coordination of care with various team members.
  • Utilization of computerized systems for documentation of patient care.
  • Manage workload effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Participation in project teams or Hospital committees as required.
  • Endoscopy experience an asset or related procedural experience
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
  • Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned

Corporate Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all mandatory training requirements and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, company Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelines

Skills &

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum 2 years of recent surgical experience required; perioperative experience preferred
  • Proficient in IV therapy
  • Valid BCLS & ACLS certification required
  • Strong clinical skills in patient assessment, care planning, education, and documentation
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑based environment with shifting priorities.
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises sound judgment with sensitive information
  • Displays analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve routine issues under supervisory guidance.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an interprofessional care team member
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Clear criminal/vulnerable sector check and up-to-date immunization/TB records required
