360°kids is a vitally important community agency serving all of York Region. We have been a leader in the delivery of innovative support services for more than 35 years as we work to improve the lives of unhoused and marginalized youth and families in York Region. At 360°kids, we provide a unique continuum of care approach with programs and services that are essential to the health and well-being of youth.

These proven strategies help to keep youth safe by providing stable housing options with 360° wraparound supports.

The Overnight Youth Worker will provide client centered, therapeutic support to all youth who are accessing the cold weather overflow beds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overnight operations (monitoring health and safety, provide informal counselling, implement program routine, ensure adherence to policies and procedures, respond to crisis situations and other duties as required)
  • Complete all mandatory recording and reporting including daily documentation HIFIS, Client notes, demographic data collection and completing intake forms. Provide reports and related information to the Team Leads and / or Manager of Hub Programs as required.
  • Reports on a regular basis to the Team Leads and/or Manager regarding issues of need and/or concern.
  • Responsible for collaborating with Team Lead ins designing program procedures that are in line with 360°kids’ as well as maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment.
  • Provide a therapeutic and safe environment for youth.
  • Perform housework, light maintenance, and repair work, or arrange for additional service.
  • Coordination of CWEP staffing and scheduling for the duration of program.
  • On site support and coordination with overnight staff in Hub programs.
  • Monitor that all program supplies are in stock.
  • Monitor health and safety, including ensuring maintenance and cleanliness of shared spaces.
  • Advocate on youth’s behalf and act as a positive role model for youth.
  • Positively contribute to 360°kids as an organization.
  • Follow appropriate policies and procedures of 360°kids. Ensures that the program operates in line with 360°kids’ mission, vision and values and activities comply with applicable standards and laws.
  • Other duties as required

Overnight awake shift from 11pm – 7am Sunday to Thursday

Education and Skills Required

  • CYW Degree/Diploma or Post-Secondary education in a Human Service related field or the equivalent of combined education and experience working with youth.
  • Previous experience working with at-risk involved youth a must.
  • The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of issues pertaining to youth; understanding of domestic youth homelessness; knowledge of relevant legislation (i.e. CFSA) and a strong understanding of case management principles.
  • Demonstrated client focused case management skills and role modelling.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to be adaptable with a flexible approach taking into consideration the unique qualities of each client.
  • Ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills that promote positive team building, negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Will possess a broad knowledge of community resources and the ability to strongly advocate for clients and make professional referrals.
  • Experience working in crisis environments and youth who have experienced trauma is an asset.
  • A Broad Record Check (BRC) is required.
  • Must have:
    Current first aid/CPR certification
