Base Pay Range

$17.50/hr – $21.00/hr

Responsibilities
  • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in practice of pharmacy and other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist and coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied, etc.).
  • Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
  • Under the supervision of pharmacy manager, assist in practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy; review and comply with Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, checking for possible interactions, and assisting pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
  • Report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty immediately and adhere to company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Strictly adhere to Walgreens policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
  • Be responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required, and assist customers to OTC aisles when possible.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including calls to physicians.
  • Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third‑party prescription services timely and efficiently, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals, maintaining knowledge of company asset‑protection techniques, filing claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
  • Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples and coordinating clinical services at Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
  • Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with local medical community, including physicians and nurses, through provider detailing and outreach to health groups.
  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance of the Pharmacy Department, ensuring it is stocked with adequate supplies and maintained in a clean, neat, orderly condition and appearance.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration; otherwise, earn PTCB certification as a condition of promotion to senior technician.
  • Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits, maintaining knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills for accurate prescription filling, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
  • Prefer good computer skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Prefer PTCB certification.
