Role DescriptionThe Automotive DMV and Contracts Clerk is a full-time, on-site role based at the Richmond, CA dealership. This role is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and processing vehicle sales contracts and DMV paperwork accurately and in compliance with state and dealership requirements. Daily tasks include verifying customer and vehicle information, submitting DMV registrations and title transfers, calculating and reconciling fees and taxes, and maintaining organized digital and physical records.
The clerk collaborates closely with the sales and finance teams, responds to DMV and customer inquiries, and follows up on missing or incomplete documentation to ensure timely completion of all transactions. The role also involves monitoring regulatory updates, supporting audit requests, and contributing to efficient dealership operations.
- Experience with automotive dealership paperwork, including vehicle sales contracts, DMV forms, and title and registration processing.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, including accurate data entry, document management, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of California DMV regulations, fees, and standard automotive finance and leasing practices, or willingness to learn quickly.
- Proficiency with dealership management systems, office software (e.g., Excel, Word), and basic computer skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with sales, finance, service teams, and external agencies.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in an automotive dealership, DMV office, or related administrative role is highly preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certification in business, administration, or automotive fields is a plus.
