Position Summary
The ASES Tutor position will provide academic assistance services to students who need remedial assistance, including tutoring students in specific academic areas related to their core curriculum and/or assist students with their homework assignments or projects during the after school program. The after-school support staff will be under the supervision of the Site Director or ASES Coordinator.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Tutor students during Homework Help during after-school program.
- Teach an Enrichment class of your choice to students during after-school program
- Assist with integrating core-curriculum concepts
- Manage groups of students to make efficient use of time
- Consult with Site Director or ASES Coordinator on academic assistance strategies
- Communicate regularly with school-day teachers and ASES program staff
- Ensure student safety and school accountability
- Keep accurate records and collect data on students
- Attend in-service trainings as well as other appropriate trainings according to Professional development
Required knowledge and skills
- Work experience in a school setting with students
- Must possess organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Must pass a DOJ background check.
- Must be willing to create and follow through with an individualized professional development plan.
- Ability to demonstrate skills in development of academic activities.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- High level of communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong initiative and ability to solve problems.
