Accounting Specialist

We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join a manufacturing organization in Richmond, Indiana on a Contract basis. This role will focus on restoring financial clarity by reconstructing key accounting records and validating balance sheet activity across the past 24 months. The position will play an important part in preparing accurate support for physical inventory activities and the upcoming year-end audit.

Responsibilities:

• Reconstruct balance sheet account activity for the prior two years and resolve discrepancies through detailed analysis.
• Perform cash account reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure complete and accurate reporting.
• Review fixed asset records, property and equipment balances, and depreciation calculations to confirm proper accounting treatment.
• Analyze accounts receivable reserves and bad debt estimates, supporting balances with clear documentation.
• Reconcile inventory, prepaid expenses, cost of goods sold, and work-in-process accounts to establish reliable financial records.
• Trace transactions back to invoices, statements, and other source materials to validate accounting entries.
• Retrieve and examine historical documents from onsite files and storage to support account research and reconciliation efforts.
• Prepare organized schedules, work papers, and supporting documentation to strengthen audit readiness and year-end reporting.
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and other accounting functions as needed to support project goals.
