Summary
The Director of Membership & Education supports the organization’s mission, strategic objectives, and plan of work by providing a wide variety of professional support. Chamber employees are community and business champions.
Business & Education Focus
As a support person for the Business Education Committee, this position will work with the committee and other volunteers in the development, funding, and implementation of education programs in alignment with the overall strategic plan.
· Plan, coordinate and lead the annual career fairs, hiring fair and similar programs/events.
· Work collaboratively with the Director of Employer Engagement to develop connections and facilitate conversations between Chamber members, partner organizations and educational institutions.
· Lead the Every Day Counts attendance program for K12 students in all Wayne County school districts.
· Identify grant opportunities to support the educational initiatives of the Chamber.
· Measure outcomes with Key Performance Indicators.
· Oversee program budgets, ensuring income and expense projections are met.
As the lead staff person for the IMPACT Committee, this position has overall responsibility for working with committee members to support Chamber members, grow and retain membership, and communicate the value of supporting local businesses.
· Connect with current and potential members on a weekly basis. Identify and communicate ways the Chamber can support its members.
· Conduct new member orientation meetings.
· Lead Small Business Saturday, Buy Local Certified program and other member-focused initiatives.
· Coordinate annual member renewal and retention process.
· Grow total number of members each calendar year.
· Work with committee to identify, implement and market new member benefits.
The Director of Membership & Education will play a significant role in attracting and retaining talent in Wayne County, particularly with young professionals.
· The Director will work together with the committee chair to coordinate professional development opportunities, while the Director of Events will coordinate HYPE social and volunteer opportunities.
· Demonstrate professional behavior, mentoring others, as appropriate.
· Help member businesses welcome new recruits to the community and assist in making connections.
· Apply for and manage local grants supporting the work of HYPE.
Other Responsibilities
· This job involves supervision of contract services, volunteers, and interns.
· The activities supporting the work of the Chamber may change from time to time with the needs of our members and the direction of Chamber Board and leadership. As such, Chamber staff should be agile to shift focus areas and lead appropriately.
· Work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, and board members with a collaborative approach.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the President/CEO.

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
· Ability to see “big picture” ideas and move from ideation to implementation.
· Ability to perform duties above with little oversight.
· Ability to clearly communicate with Chamber members and leaders at all levels in their careers.
