Maintenance Technician - Blue Buffalo (Richmond, IN)

Join the General Mills manufacturing group as a Maintenance Technician focused on preventive and reactive maintenance of processing and packaging equipment. You will provide technical support to improve operational performance.

• 12‑hour shifts – 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off schedule
• Day shift: 7 am – 7 pm
• Night shift: 7 pm – 7 am (currently hiring for night shift)
• Willingness to work overtime, days, nights, weekends, holidays and emergency events
• Plant operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week

• $36.34 per hour
• Shift differential: $1.00 per hour for work between 7 pm and 7 am

• Install, maintain, repair, and replace industrial processing and packaging machinery, tools and equipment
• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
• Provide technical support and plant leadership for equipment troubleshooting and modifications
• Design and layout circuits, install fixtures, wire conduits, motors, and other electrical components; use multimeter
• Perform or assist with sheet‑metal fabrication, MIG/TIG/arc welding
• Conduct both uptime and downtime preventive maintenance
• Engage in Root Cause Analysis (Why, Why) and continuous improvement initiatives
• Assist in training new employees

• High school diploma or GED (minimum)
• At least 3 years of industrial maintenance or related experience
• Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of PLC operation, electric motors, gearboxes, and component troubleshooting; ability to use multimeter and specialized tools
• Preferred: experience troubleshooting AC/DC electrical systems, reading schematics, and using electrical testing equipment
• Preferred: familiarity with basic shop equipment (mill, lathe, grinder, presses)
• Preferred: manufacturing/production environment experience

• Lift up to 50 lbs
• Perform physical tasks for extended periods: standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting
• Climb and/or work at heights using stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
• Wear protective clothing and equipment – safety shoes, face mask, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, hair/beard net, gloves as required
• Adhere to grooming requirements for food manufacturing
• Work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental conditions
• Work around high‑speed moving machinery
• Work with allergens present in food environment
• Work in a tobacco‑free environment
