Job Description

First Shift is Mon-Fri 6AM-2:30PM

Second Shift is Mon-Thurs 2:30pm-1:00AM

The CNC Machinist sets up, operates, and maintains Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines (mills and/or lathes) to create precise parts from various materials, interpreting blueprints, programming machines with instructions, loading materials, monitoring operations for quality and safety, performing first article inspections with precision measuring tools, troubleshooting issues, and performing routine maintenance, ensuring parts meet exact specification for our customers.

• Plan machining operations by reviewing work orders, blue prints, engineering plans and drawings.
• Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving parts programs
• Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools,, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads
• Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position
• Maintain specifications by observing, drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning and facing operations, take measurements, detect malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing work tools and quality assurance.
• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
• Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, and fixtures and gauges to check work and perform detailed inspection of parts produced.

  Good attendance includes reporting to work on time, sticking to work schedules, being prepared to start work on time, remaining on the job during the workday to complete assigned duties and limited use of unscheduled leave.

• Experience in working in a machine shop environment.
• 2+ years’ experience in machine shop
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to coworkers
• Ability to manage several projects at one time
• Able to work independently on a project through its completion with minimum supervision
• Knowledge of metal fabrication processes, machining and tooling background and previous manufacturing background/environment.
• Impeccable attention to detail and ability to work within short time lines with speed and accuracy
