Primary FunctionThe Dental Director serves as the chief clinical officer for White House Clinics’ dental division. As a member of the executive leadership team, the Director maintains responsibility for the quality of services delivered by dental clinicians and the clinical outcomes of the division. The Director represents oral health clinicians in organizational decisions and provides insight on topics related to patient and community needs.
The Director also provides 30 hours per week of clinical practice, delivering primary dental care in a community health center setting.
- Quality Assurance and Clinical Management
- Maintain responsibility for the clinical outcomes through regular monitoring of quality metrics and performance indicators.
- Represent the Dental Department on the Quality Improvement and Risk Management Committee.
- Communicate performance to clinicians and work with the team to generate improvement ideas.
- Implement and evaluate effectiveness of quality improvement activities in collaboration with the Dental Service Line Manager and COO.
- Clinical Policy Development
- Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical policies, protocols, and principles of practice in compliance with laws, regulations, and organizational policy.
- Involve dental clinicians in development and implementation of procedures and standards.
- Ensure proper organization and maintenance of patient records.
- Respond to patient grievances involving the dental department.
- Monitor risk through peer review results and incident reporting, providing corrective action as needed.
- Stay current on diagnostic and treatment advancements and regulatory changes, informing clinicians and leadership.
- Human Resources Activities
- Responsible for selection of dental clinical provider staff and active participation in recruitment.
- Evaluate credentials and current competence of dentists; recommend credentialing and privileging actions to the Board of Directors.
- Assign staff responsibilities and supervise clinical staff, ensuring proper implementation of policies.
- Coach staff, provide feedback, document performance conversations, and complete annual performance reviews.
- Ensure appropriate continuing education and in‑service training; lead quarterly clinician meetings.
- Planning
- Participate in short- and long-range planning to support the strategic plan and mission, including identifying community health needs and developing resources.
- Collaborate with the CEO and Executive Team to establish systems and implement programs.
- Financial Management and Budgeting
- Participate in budget development and financial decisions affecting patient care and clinical programs.
- Assist in establishing financial parameters such as fee schedules, productivity standards, and wage scales.
- General
- Serve as a resource for colleagues on technical and procedural matters related to oral health.
- Attend Board meetings quarterly to provide clinical information and input.
- Assist the CEO in representing the organization to patients, community groups, and agencies.
Minimum Education: Completion of accredited D.M.D. or D.D.S. program.
Minimum
Work Experience:
Minimum three years of experience in a public health dental setting.
Required License: Full, unrestricted license to practice dentistry in Kentucky.
