Position SummaryThe Graduate Assistant for Student Leadership (GASL) will work out of the Housing and Residence Life office in the Whitlock Building, supporting student leadership development within the residential community. This GA will advise student leadership organizations, including the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), manage the resource room, assist with Student Staff Training & Development and Student Staff Management, support appreciation efforts for student staff, and coordinate the end-of-year banquet.
The GASL reports directly to the Associate Director of Residence Life for Leadership, Recruitment, and Training.
- Unconditional acceptance into a graduate degree program at Eastern Kentucky University
- Enroll in at least nine (9) credit hours per semester in a graduate degree program
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA in coursework leading toward the completion of graduate degree
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Possess excellent computer skills (e.g., MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Skills in multi-tasking and the availability to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Possess excellent administrative skills
- Experience in student leadership roles, residence life, or student affairs.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Experience living in a residence hall or working with student organizations.
- Work within an assigned focus area within Housing and Residence Life to provide support and development.
- (Essential) - Perform and support other areas of Housing and Residence Life as assigned.
- (Essential) - Attend various trainings and meetings as needed.
