Overview

Area Float Nurse – Registered Nurse (RN) – Full Time – Fresenius Medical Care

• Provide safe, high quality hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients under the direction of the Supervisor and Collaborative Care Team.
• Perform ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre, during and post hemodialysis treatment; document in the patient medical record and adjust treatment plan as indicated.
• Assess patient/family learning needs; provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family.
• Administer medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithms; document appropriate medical justification and effectiveness.
• Initiate or assist with emergency response measures.
• Serve as a resource for the health care team; participate in staff training and orientation of new staff as assigned.
• Identify expected outcomes; document and update the nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.
• Ensure patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options.
• Complete CAP requirements to advance.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

• Direct patient care that regularly involves heavy lifting, moving of patients and assisting with ambulation.
• Frequent, prolonged periods of standing and the ability to bend over.
• May occasionally be required to move, with assistance, machines and equipment up to 200 lbs.; lift chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet.
• Work environment characteristic of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels.
• May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials.
• Day to day work includes desk work, computer work, interaction with patients, facility/hospital staff and physicians.
• May require travel to training sites or other facilities.

Assigned oversight of Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs as a Team Leader or designated Nurse in Charge after meeting experience and education milestones.

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current appropriate state licensure.
• Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification.
• Must meet the practice requirements in the state of employment.

• Entry level RN with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience.
• Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred).
