Lead BAS Controls Technician

80% Nationwide Travel | Can be based anywhere in the US

Summary:

We’re seeking a Lead BAS Controls Technician to oversee the installation, programming, and commissioning of Building Automation Systems across commercial and mission‑critical sites throughout the U.S. This is a hands‑on, travel‑intensive role ideal for someone who enjoys leading field teams, solving complex controls issues, and bringing high‑performance HVAC systems online.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead field installation, device termination, point‑to‑point testing, and full BAS/DDC system commissioning.
  • Program and modify HVAC control sequences; configure BAS networks, graphics, and communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus).
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and communication issues during startup.
  • Supervise subcontractors and guide on‑site technicians; interpret drawings and ensure installation aligns with design intent.
  • Coordinate daily with project managers, engineers, and customers to keep projects on schedule.
  • Maintain accurate as‑builts, commissioning reports, logs, and turnover documentation.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact during installation, startup, and training.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of BAS/DDC installation, programming, and commissioning experience.
  • Experience with major BAS platforms (Siemens, JCI, ALC, Delta, Distech, Honeywell, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, digital controls, and networking fundamentals.
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documents.
  • Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, or similar protocols.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness to travel 80% nationwide.
