Job Description Investigator Duties  will include but are not limited to:
* Reviews case reports regarding criminal elements and plans a course of action for the investigation.  Conducts investigation of cases assigned.
* Develops, locates and interviews witnesses; interviews victims; takes written and/or recorded statements and verifies the accuracy of statements.
* Seizes stolen properties and contraband when necessary.  Obtains and protects evidence in criminal cases.
* Works with medical examiners and forensic specialists to determine the pathology of homicides; examines crime scene for clues and evidence.
* Maintains unassigned cases for future leads.
* Complete assignments as assigned by supervisor.
* Arrests criminal law violators.
* Obtains supporting information from government agencies, private industry, community organization and the public as a part of the investigation.
* Presents completed investigations to District Attorney for prosecution. Documents all aspects of the investigation as it is conducted.
* Transports arrestees from locations throughout the State of Texas to Fort Bend County detention facility;
Transports persons under extradition orders from out of state locations;
Transports Individuals with mental health problems to treatment facilities.
* Testifies before Grand Jury and at Criminal Court proceedings.
* Signs for and is held financially accountable for equipment issued.
* Assists and/or instructs other employees with their duties; reviews work of other employees; establishes standards and/or priorities; ensures that established standards are met by others.
* Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
** Minimum Requirements
*** High School diploma/GED.
* Basic TCOLE Peace Officer Certification with a minimum of three (3) years, paid experience as a Peace Officer. Preference will be given to applicants with prior investigative experience.
* Must possess a valid Texas driver's license.
* Strong computer, verbal and written communication, and time management and organizational skills.
* Maintain good standing and meet requirements to be licensed as a peace officer under the rules of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
