- Under the general supervision of the Lead Clinical Dietitian, coordinate patient Medical Nutrition Therapy to ensure high quality food service and nutritional care for patients.
- Apply knowledge of growth and development over the life span to identify patient and family requirements relative to age-specific needs.
- In accordance with TJC, local, state, and federal agency standards, complete Screenings, Comprehensive Nutrition Assessment, Care Plans, Nutrition Education and Re-assessment utilizing the Nutrition Care Process for patients with complex medical needs.
- Participate in interdisciplinary care planning, including team meetings.
- Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy Counseling Services to outpatients and families with complex medical needs.
- Provide in-service training to employees.
- Participate in Departmental Quality Improvement activities.
- Preceptor for Dietetic Interns and HOSA students.
- Provide Community Presentations.
- MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science with a major in nutrition or dietetics from an accredited college or university. Completion of Internship through a program approved by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. - Minimum
Work Experience:
One-year clinical nutrition experience in a hospital preferred. - Required
Licenses/Certifications:
Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Registered Dietitian Eligible must successfully complete requirements for Registered Dietitian within 6 months of employment. Texas Licensed Dietitian (Must obtain Texas Licensed Dietitian within 6 months of employment). Serv Safe Food Safety Certification preferred. - Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Computer literate; excellent communication and counseling skills; ability to communicate in Spanish preferred.
The required hours of work will be scheduled by the hospital. Weekend, holidays, additional hours and flexing of hours will be required.
