Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator (RN), the Lead Emergency Room Technician (Lead ERT) coordinates patient care and customer service, monitors EKGs, and assists licensed nursing staff in providing care to Emergency Care Center patients. The Lead ERT supports medical care under the Medical Staff's direction and manages ER department flow, including labs, patient paperwork, and code activations.
QualificationsMinimum Education
High School Diploma or GED required; relevant experience or an accredited EMS program preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
At least one year of hospital or EMS experience required.
Required Licenses/Certifications
One of the following:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Texas; or
- Certified Medical Assistant; or
- Certified or Licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); or
- Licensed Paramedic; or
- U.S. Military Hospital Corpsman training; or
- Education or experience in lieu of certification/license (e.g., nursing student, Patient Care Technician, foreign nursing credentials)
Certified in BLS through the American Heart Association required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Computer skills and successful completion of an EKG competency assessment.
