About the RoleTax Accountant serves as a key contributor within the tax team, overseeing multiple client engagements, supervising staff, and delivering high‑quality tax planning and compliance services. This role blends technical tax expertise with leadership, client interaction, and project management responsibilities.
What You’ll Do Engagement Management- Plan engagement scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Develop engagement budgets and submit for approval.
- Coordinate with clients to gather information and communicate updates.
- Manage complex client engagements while overseeing several smaller ones.
- Identify unexpected issues and keep Managers/Principals informed of project status.
- Perform tax planning for individuals, estates, and trusts with minimal oversight.
- Prepare and/or review work papers for individual and fiduciary tax returns.
- Ensure all work aligns with firm methods, policies, and compliance standards.
- Supervise Staff Accountants (Levels I & II) and seasonal staff.
- Train, review work, provide guidance, and deliver timely feedback.
- Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, and development discussions.
- Encourage collaboration, teamwork, and a positive work environment.
- Promote continuous improvement and innovation across the team.
- Draft clear and professional client correspondence.
- Communicate promptly and effectively with clients and internal teams.
- Begin participating in the billing process.
- Make decisions that support engagement profitability and workflow efficiency.
- Take initiative in identifying opportunities for process improvements.
- Uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an Accounting certificate.
- 2–4 years of tax and accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of basic taxation principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Solid knowledge of U.S. tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to accurately prepare and review state and federal tax forms.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Proficiency with accounting and tax software; ability to troubleshoot issues.
- Experience using tax research materials for complex returns.
- High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial information.
