The Accounting Assistant will provide responsible, general clerical and accounting support requiring accuracy, attention to detail, organizational skills and computer knowledge.
Major Accountabilities / EssentialJob Duties
- Handle cashier responsibilities daily, preparing daily deposits, counting cash from departments, deposit daily to bank.
- Process and post monthly departmental corporate purchase card charges.
- Post child care billings and be the point person for questions for any parent questions.
- Serve as primary custodian to the petty cash fund, documenting all disbursements and reconciling monthly.
- Scan and index all documents into the Document Retrieval System.
- Reconcile assigned accounts and post department charges monthly.
- Primary backup for accounts payable.
- Assist different areas in the department with their monthly responsibilities.
- Additional duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work is primarily sedentary.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds without assistance, 26+ with manual or mechanical assistance.
- Ability to sit, reach, stand, bend, walk for periods of time depending on daily responsibilities.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to research and compile data upon request.
- Familiarity with Document Retrieval Systems.
- Experience working in a healthcare or retirement environment.
- High School Diploma.
- Strong working knowledge in Excel and Word.
- Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience working in an accounting office or financial institution.
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting.
