Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to support financial operations for a healthcare organization in Richmond, Virginia. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage high-volume invoice activity with accuracy and consistency while maintaining timely payment cycles. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to essential accounting functions in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming invoices, verify supporting documentation, and prepare items for accurate entry into the accounts payable workflow.

- Assign proper coding to invoices to ensure expenses are recorded against the correct accounts and cost categories.

- Process vendor payments on a scheduled basis, including preparing and coordinating check runs in line with payment deadlines.

- Maintain organized records of invoices, approvals, and payment activity to support audit readiness and internal controls.

- Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve discrepancies, missing details, or payment-related questions.

- Monitor invoice status from receipt through completion to help keep the payment process efficient and up to date. Requirements - Previous experience handling accounts payable duties in a detail-oriented business environment.

- Working knowledge of invoice coding, payment processing, and check run procedures.

- Ability to process a high volume of invoices with strong accuracy and attention to detail.

- Familiarity with basic accounting practices and financial recordkeeping.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritize daily tasks.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with vendors and internal teams.
