Corporate Category Manager, Bakery/Dairy
Location:
Richmond, VA – West Creek office (onsite)
Achieve sales and earned income (revenue) objectives and related marketing activities in a specific category of Bakery/Dairy across the corporation. Effectively develop pricing and earned income programs on Performance Food service brand products ensuring competitive invoice‑delivered cost to the Operating Companies. Negotiate formula cost tied to third‑party markets when available for Performance Food service brand products. Include the negotiation of new and enhanced supplier programs, increase participation with strategic suppliers through the conversion of non‑strategic vendor purchases, manage communication flow to OpCos regarding market conditions and inventory positions, and collaborate with Marketing/Brands on current and future brand and item development.
Support, train, and educate the field in category expertise via up‑to‑date programs such as Operating Company liaison, interactive training, food shows, and other industry activities. Resolve issues related to vendor partners, manage rebate tracking programs, and address collection of rebates and other incentives from suppliers and payments to OpCos. Function as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate new and enhanced supplier programs to solicit participation in key marketing strategies/events, including maintaining all documents, forms and related vendor information.
- Perform key category reviews—analyze sales, earned income (revenue), industry trends, for brand extensions and/or Request For Proposals (RFPs).
- Develop and promote "Performance" brands within managed categories and conduct ongoing evaluation of products through comparison to competitive products and suppliers, including data and product cuttings and supplier specifications and food safety programs.
- Communicate with Operating Companies to assist with any local issues/opportunities and share market status/trends, purchase recommendations and key supplier performance updates.
- Conduct vendor meetings—review sales, earned income trends, OpCo issues and develop action plans to address those issues as needed.
- Assist with merchandising conference planning activities and attend, participate, and present at various events such as Summits, IFDA, NRA, Executive Conferences, and other industry events and conferences.
- Support other strategic departments and company goals and functions with procurement‑related information, functions and activities.
- Perform any related duties as assigned.
- Work onsite at Performance Food service’s West Creek office.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of procurement or category‑management experience in the food service industry.
- Business or related experience within the food service industry.
