Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior level Superintendent to lead all on-site field activities for data center projects or those with a mission-critical focus. Responsibilities include directing and mentoring on-site staff and subcontractors to ensure project delivery aligns with safety, quality, schedule, and budget goals. This role requires deep technical expertise in mission-critical infrastructure, strong leadership in high-pressure environments, and the ability to coordinate complex construction activities from project inception through commissioning.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to lead and mentor teams in delivering high-performance, mission-critical facilities.
- Lead all on-site field operations for large-scale data center or mission-critical construction projects, ensuring alignment with project goals related to safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality execution of the work.
- Develop, maintain, and manage comprehensive construction schedules including master, 60-day, and 2-week look-ahead schedules in collaboration with the project manager.
- Oversee daily job site activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with design documents, specifications, and approved shop drawings.
- Enforce and uphold the corporate safety program, site-specific safety plans, and risk controls through regular toolbox talks, pre-task meetings, inspections, and ongoing field supervision.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site while ensuring strict adherence to EH&S standards and jurisdictional safety requirements.
- Conduct regular quality inspections, lead root cause analysis for field issues, and ensure all work meets client specifications and industry standards.
- Facilitate and lead weekly trade coordination, foreman, and superintendent meetings; record and distribute meeting minutes as needed.
- Collaborate with the project manager during preconstruction to identify constructability issues, develop project scope, logistics, phasing, and scheduling strategies.
- Develop detailed testing plans, implementation plans, and MOPs.
- Identify risks to client critical operations and develop methods to mitigate risks.
- Support procurement tracking by monitoring critical delivery dates for materials and equipment.
- Manage and maintain field documentation, including daily construction reports, safety logs, RFIs, as-builts, and commissioning records.
- Ensure proper document control systems are in place to confirm field installation is based on current design documents and approvals.
- Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, inspectors, and internal stakeholders; serve as the primary on-site contact for project-related matters.
- Provide regular updates and contribute to monthly reports and progress photos for client and internal use.
- Support permitting and inspection processes by ensuring all required approvals are secured, posted, and renewed as necessary.
- Participate in punch list development and closeout processes, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Continuously evaluate and improve field performance, subcontractor relationships, and project communication.
- Promote a positive and professional work environment by treating subcontractors and team members fairly and respectfully.
- Exceed client expectations by understanding their needs and maintaining open and proactive communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Actively engage in company training and development programs to stay updated on best practices and industry standards.
- Engineering, Construction Management, or related bachelor’s degree, or equivalent years of related experience.
- At least 10-15 years of relevant mission-critical or data center experience.
- Working knowledge of construction disciplines, cost control, scheduling, safety regulations, and engineering drawings and other documents.
- 10-Hour OSHA and 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health Certificate.
- 4-Hour Supported Scaffold User Certificate.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook), and Procore.
- The annual salary range for this role is $180,000 - $220,000.
