DPR Construction is seeking a safety professional to work with our self perform teams in our Richmond office. This individual will implement DPR’s environmental health and safety plan (EHSP) and related programs at assigned construction projects. The safety manager will collaborate with our project management team and subcontractors to identify and mitigate potential hazards and ensure compliance with our EHSP using behavior-based safety techniques.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading and fostering DPR’s injury-free environment culture.
• Developing the career paths of safety coordinators.
• Managing pre-qualification processes with subcontractors.
• Coaching management on safety leadership and practices.
• Providing safety trend analysis periodically.
• Developing safety programs and protocols.
• Creating site-specific safety plans incorporating DPR and client safe work practices.
• Innovating hazard abatement methods.
• Conducting regular safety audits and sharing findings with project management.
• Utilizing all necessary resources to maintain an injury-free environment.
• Monitoring subcontractor safety adherence.
• Measuring team engagement in safety practices.
• Maintaining safety documentation such as training records, certifications, incident reports, and safety data.

Ideal candidates will be flexible, detail-oriented team players capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines. Requirements include:

• At least 5 years of construction site experience.
• OSHA 500 training certification.
• Certifications such as competent person, train-the-trainer, or activity-specific credentials.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• A degree in safety management or CHST certification is a plus.
• Experience in commercial concrete, drywall, or metal framing industries is advantageous.
