Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Traveling Onsite Safety Professional to support the delivery of large-scale data center construction projects across multiple locations. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting a proactive safety culture, monitoring field activities, and ensuring compliance with client, regulatory, and project-specific health and safety requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess strong construction safety experience, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders. This role requires extensive travel and a hands‑on presence in the field to support safe project execution throughout all phases of construction.
As a key member of the project team, the Traveling Onsite Safety Professional will act as a trusted advisor, helping drive safety excellence while promoting Turner & Townsend's values, methodologies, and commitment to delivering successful project outcomes.
What you’ll do- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of project‑specific health and safety programs across multiple data center construction projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and field observations to verify compliance with client, company, and regulatory safety requirements.
- Monitor construction activities and identify potential hazards, risks, and unsafe conditions, ensuring timely corrective actions.
- Partner with contractors, subcontractors, and project teams to promote a strong safety culture and safe work practices.
- Review and evaluate Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and site‑specific safety plans.
- Participate in pre‑construction planning, risk assessments, and constructability reviews to proactively address safety concerns.
- Facilitate safety orientations, toolbox talks, training sessions, and safety awareness initiatives.
- Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective action development, and lessons learned reporting.
- Track and report safety metrics, observations, inspections, and key performance indicators.
- Review contractor safety performance and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with project management, construction management, and client teams to ensure alignment on safety objectives.
- Support emergency response planning and preparedness activities.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, permits, and compliance records.
- Promote compliance with OSHA requirements, local regulations, client standards, and industry best practices.
