Job Description

This role leads large, complex healthcare construction projects from inception through completion, ensuring they finish on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. The Healthcare Construction Project Manager coordinates all project activities, collaborates closely with owners and project teams, and delivers an exceptional experience for stakeholders while supporting a rapidly growing organization in Southern Virginia.

Responsibilities

+ Lead and manage large, complex healthcare construction projects from planning through closeout, ensuring they are completed on schedule and within budget.

+ Drive all phases of the project lifecycle, including preconstruction, construction, and post-construction activities, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and compliance.

+ Oversee project estimating activities and ensure accurate cost projections, budgets, and financial tracking throughout the project.

+ Apply extensive knowledge of construction means and methods to plan and execute work efficiently and safely.

+ Manage construction accounting processes related to the project, including cost control, change management, and financial reporting.

+ Administer project documents, including contracts, drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders, ensuring accurate records and timely communication.

+ Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to align expectations and resolve issues promptly.

+ Lead and participate in project scheduling activities, including the development, monitoring, and updating of project schedules.

+ Oversee project engineering functions, including technical coordination, constructability reviews, and support for field operations.

+ Manage and coordinate construction of building elements such as doors and related components, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.

+ Use project management and construction software tools to support scheduling, documentation, communication, and reporting.

+ Provide leadership and direction to project team members and, where applicable, manage employees assigned to the project.

+ Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and maintain strong working relationships.

+ Promote a collaborative, solutions-oriented culture that supports continuous improvement and high performance across the project team.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ 10+ years of industry experience, with a significant portion spent working for a general contractor.

+ Experience working on healthcare construction projects.

+ Extensive experience and knowledge of construction estimating, means and methods, and industry practices.

+ Strong understanding of construction accounting and cost control processes.

+

Experience with document administration, including contracts, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.

+ Proven ability to manage complex construction projects, including scheduling and project coordination.

+

Experience with commercial construction environments.

+ Mechanical construction understanding sufficient to coordinate with mechanical trades and systems.

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with owners, design teams, and subcontractors.

+ Experience managing employees or leading project teams.
