Overview
smbw is seeking a talented and motivated Architectural Designer to contribute to the firm’s portfolio of small to mid-sized projects. The candidate should demonstrate a growing understanding of building strategy and possess emerging design development skills. The Architectural Designer will collaborate with project teams and contribute across all phases of a project. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative environment dedicated to thoughtful, innovative, and high-quality design solutions.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with project teams to support the development of design concepts and help translate project objectives into architectural solutions.
- Assist in preparing design drawings, presentations, and technical documentation in alignment with project goals and regulatory standards.
- Support research efforts and help explore design methodologies, materials, and technologies to enhance project quality and sustainability.
- Participate in design team meetings and contribute to a creative, collaborative environment that encourages growth and knowledge sharing.
- Assist in presenting design concepts to clients and stakeholders under the guidance of senior staff, ensuring clarity and alignment with project requirements.
- Pursue professional development opportunities, such as workshops or certifications, to advance design and technical skills.
- Provide support to Project Managers in organizing project workflows and maintaining project timelines.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in architecture from a NAAB-accredited program. - Experience:
2-5 years of professional architectural experience, including involvement in design and documentation phases. - Technical knowledge:
Familiarity with building and material systems and all regulatory standards. - Software proficiency:
Proficient in Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam Studio, Sketch Up, and the ability to quickly adapt to other relevant design tools and technologies. - Proactive learner:
Demonstrates initiative in pursuing educational and professional development opportunities independently. - Licensure progress:
Licensure or having taken active steps toward completing the ARE exams is preferred.
