This is an open‑rank, collateral, non‑tenure track faculty position. The faculty member will support the division with undergraduate and graduate teaching responsibilities, provide clinical services, develop a service line for endourology, nephrolithiasis, BPH, and HoLEPs, develop an endourology fellowship, and provide care at VCU Hospital and a satellite clinic. The clinical role covers the full breadth of urologic care for nephrolithiasis, BPH, and general urology at VCU and the VA.
PositionResponsibilities Teaching
The faculty member will have teaching responsibilities including formal lectures and case presentations to undergraduate medical students covering all areas of urology, applied anatomy, and physiology.
ResearchThe faculty member will be expected to be an active participant in clinical trials in their subspecialty interest.
ServiceThe faculty member will serve on departmental and/or university committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g., reviewer, conference organizer, etc.
ClinicalThe faculty member will build and maintain a busy, patient‑centered clinical practice focused on minimally invasive surgery, PCNL, and HoLEPs for nephrolithiasis, BPH, and other urologic diseases. This includes both inpatient and outpatient management of all urological diagnoses and operative procedures. Opportunities exist for expanding VCU Division of Urology services to outlying clinics and surrounding communities, encouraging multidisciplinary collaboration with oncology, radiation oncology, nephrology, transplant medicine, and others.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- Board certified in urology or board eligible
- Dedicated to teaching residents and medical students
- Commitment to laboratory and/or clinical research within the faculty member’s subspecialty interest
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences
- Commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
- Endourology fellowship training or equivalent experience in HoLEPs and PCNL
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level
