Surgical Oncologist – Endocrine, Department of Surgery (M34530)
Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine is seeking a Surgical Oncologist, Endocrine – a faculty position within the VCU Surgical Oncology Division. The role is open rank, early‑to‑mid career, non‑tenure track. The successful candidate will develop a full‑time endocrine clinical practice, lead teaching and research, and support the division’s outreach programs.

Mission: The VCU Division of Surgical Oncology provides advanced, patient‑oriented, cost‑effective and safe Surgical Oncology services and trains future specialists.
Position
Purpose:
This faculty member will strengthen clinical and research activities in benign and malignant endocrine diseases, support outreach programs, and teach surgery residents, fellows and medical students.
- Teaching: Provide instructional sessions in Surgical Oncology with emphasis on Endocrine Surgery.
- Research: Conduct clinical and/or basic science research in endocrine surgery, translational oncology, immunotherapy, targeted therapy or cancer genomics. Expect publication record and interdisciplinary collaboration with Massey Cancer Center, medical & radiation oncology.
- Service: Participate in university, health system and departmental committees; assist in recruitment, training and placement of residents and fellows.
- Clinical: Maintain a full‑time endocrine practice, including outreach clinics; treat oncology surgical patients on the MCV campus and community outreach sites; develop an active endocrine surgical practice under division leadership.
- Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery.
- Advanced training fellowship in Endocrine Surgery or Surgical Oncology with extensive experience in endocrine surgery.
- Commitment to outcomes, clinical and/or basic science research.
- Demonstrated ability to foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with faculty, staff and students from diverse backgrounds.
- Record of external funding or proposal submissions to obtain funding.
